Almost done
I’m exhausted. We’re on our way back to Freetown to see one of our instructors/team members off tomorrow. It’s been a long day that started with our written post exam and then each student demonstrating limited OB ultrasound on 9 different pregnant ladies.
Then, we went to make a “quick” drop off of the equipment to one of the clinics on Monghere, which ended up being a 3-4hrs drive roundtrip on an unpaved road in terrible condition smh. It was good for me to see because while we’re training the midwives and CHOs to do these ultrasound, this will result in more referrals to the hospital, and one of the next barriers we’ll need to address/remove is the transportation to follow through on those referrals and get care.
So, though we’re all totally exhausted (still with 1.5hr to go on this 5hr drive with 4 of us in the back of this car smh), like my sister said today, it’s not everyday that we set out a plan to accomplish a goal and succeed. There are times I have stumbled or just outright failed. On this trip, I’m glad that we didn’t. And I thank God for blessing us with these small victories that will hopefully turn into bigger ones in times to come.
Tenki everyone for your support. Your encouragement has helped make this possible
