Meet the Tenki Team

Mariama Massaquoi-Gartmann

Mariama is a double-board certified family medicine and family medicine obstetric physician. She additionally holds a Masters in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Currently she serves as a physician in the Army and as the CEO of Tenki. During this visit, Mariama is one of the organizers of the Maternal and Child Health Conference in partnership with 4 other organizations and sponsored by 12 global maternal health organizations with their generous donations of medicine and supplies.

Maria Valdez

Dr. Maria Valdez is a board certified Family Medicine Physician and a certified registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS). She has been with Tenki since its inception as a board member and CFO. This is her third visit to Sierra Leone with Tenki. Dr. Valdez will be acting as an instructor on how to manage Postpartum Hemorrhage, Obstructed Labor, and Prolonged Labor.

Amanda Napolet

Dr. Amanda Napolet hails from the US where she works as an Army Nurse Corps Officer. She is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with a clinical doctorate and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). This is her second trip to Africa but first to Sierra Leone. During this conference she will be assisting with instruction on Bleeding after Birth and Prolonged and Obstructed Labor.

Matthew Gartmann

Matthew Gartmann is an engineer by trade and helps to facilitate technical matters with Tenki. This is his first trip to Sierra Leone. On this trip Matthew is assisting with record creation and documentation during the Maternal and Child Health Conference as well as continuing efforts on Tenki’s School Transportation and Books on Wheels program.

Nathaniel Bond

Nathaniel Bond is a certified EMT and former Special Forces Medic. This is his first trip to Sierra Leone. On this trip he will be acting as photographer and social media correspondent.
